It is high time to find out what the Wholesale Crop Market actually has to offer. Off course I take my camera and time my visit to catch the late afternoon light. The answer in terms of crop is Sudanese ful (peanuts), watermelon seeds, sim-sim (sesame), karkaday (hibiscus), and a raw material called Selamaka.Gum Arabic is conspicuous by its absence. It's one of Sudan's biggest agricultural exports - and El Obied is the biggest market, in fact it is known is some quarters as "Gum City".
