El Obied Fudulled and ignored Fri 14 Jan 2005

Fri 14 Jan

The next day Dia announces he's off to work. I'm confused; I thought it was the weekend. I'd stayed over so we can do something interesting on our day off. He promises he will only be an hour or so and leaves me watching the business news on BBC World. They do a "business report" slot with the City of London in the background. It must be about 6:45am local time. It is still dark, with the amber of street lights and a few poor souls making their way to work. It reminds me that two years ago I would be on my way, running along a frozen canal path at that time. I think I kind of prefer the climate here although sunrise is presently after 7:30am so it's still a struggle getting up for first class at 8:30am.

I spend the whole day being fudulled and ignored. Dia is either out or sleeping or seemingly ignoring me. I am furious and still bored and leave as soon as it is polite to do so.

Party party, at the college
Party party, at the college
Back at the guesthouse it sounds like there's a party going on at the college (the other side of the wall). I check it out - seeing as how I have experienced such a frustrating day. There were lots of young people enjoying themselves, flicking their fingers to the live music - a singer with a radio mic performs among them. Some of the teachers are there too, sat in armchairs. Of course at least one jumps up and insists I sit and join them, but I have had enough fudulling for one day.
