After brunch, Adam returned to work and I went back to his house and lay on a bed in the yard. After an hour or so I got a call from Eleanor. She was on the bus coming in to Dilling. I went to meet her. She was looking rough and feeling awful, and the long, dusty and bumpy bus ride had not helped. I suggested we go straight to Skye's house out at the university, and hired a donkey cart to take her and her luggage. Skye, another volunteer teacher, had returned to Dilling that morning. She was brilliant fun and proved to be a thoughtful, cheery host despite the lack of electricity and water.
