It's a Sunday morning, a working day here. I trot off happily to the southern campus to teach my 3rd year women, mostly mothers (and all Muslim). Of course I should have remembered it was Mothering Sunday (in the UK); it would have been a good discussion topic, but I didn't. I forgot. Later in the day when I go to check my email I find my mother has written a cheery email accompanied by a photo of some real-life flowers she had received from my sister. That's nice. It's lovely when people make an effort. I feel disappointed with myself. I could have done a hundred things but somehow kidded myself that distance excused me. Oh well, I've never been much good at relationships.
