The word went around, it was even announced on the radio, and all the computer
fundis had been told to be on the look out for Imruh’s laptop. Apparently, the
police were tipped off that someone was trying to get it "unlocked" (it would
have been password protected). It turned out to be the son of the wealthy family
that operate the ferries here. He claims to have bought it off someone who it
turns out has been employed by ZIFF as a bouncer. It’s still not clear how or
when it was taken but one theory is that the office padlock was swapped sometime
after it was last opened, the last person out doesn’t need a key they simply close
the padlock (believing it to be the normal one), the thief returns with his key,
unlocks his padlock, takes the goods then puts back the original padlock and locks
it shut. The accused is expected to plead not guilty in court on Tuesday.
