  Final Countdown The Last Swim

It hadn't even occurred to me to go for a last swim. Cleo asked when and where it would be and Max and Margie thought they would come along too. In the event no one else has shown up and I'm here in the Nile on my own. That's OK I guess. Being the last time I can savour it.

Heron On The Nile
Heron On The Nile
Today, there is only the slightest pull of the current. It is lovely, idlely lulling, practicing floating, collecting silt in my hands and letting it wash off. A wonderful way to cool off and wind down.

Overhead, a large bird catches my eye, high above the water. I realise it's a heron, a Heron on the Nile. And then, as if it were the end of a movie, it turns away, leaving the river behind. My eye stays with it, as it gets smaller, and smaller, until finally it's just a dot above the rooftops, and then it's gone.
