The teaching's going fine but these country folk are a little more hesitant to get going in class discussions. It doesn't matter whether it's about "how we know the news is true?" the "Comprehensive Peace Agreement" or even simply whether they are coming to college every day this week - I get good, deep thoughtful responses AND blanks to it all! Two days before Eid I have a class full of trainee teachers who seem to have no clear idea (or care) when the college is officially on holiday. Most are planning to travel, or receive guests the next day. My department head can't tell me when we will break but whatever happens he will be in his office till 2pm the next day.
