  Kadugli and Dilling Overnight Sensation

Skye and Angus were perfect hosts and delightful company. We spent the evening in the souq, eating and chatting, and trying to understand what had been going on. At the end of the evening I went back to the guesthouse with Angus. We had been back only a couple of minutes when Security came. They wanted me to accompany them to the Police station "just to check my papers". Angus insisted on coming too "to help translate" but was assured it would not be necessary. In fact, very little was said. The duty-officer looked like a rabbit startled in a car's headlights. Security gave some instructions, presumably along the lines of "lock him up for the night"; they insisted Angus left, and then disappeared too.

The duty-officer, flanked by his posse, took my details and itemised my possessions including my wrist-watch. He indicated I would not see them until the next day. I was lead off to the cell, locked-in and left.
