  Turbulent Times Lush Green Lawns

This evening we left Sudan for the evening, at least the Sudan we know, to attend the Queen's birthday celebration at the Ambassador's residence. Set in the garden, across an immaculate lush green lawn and under the protection of towering mature trees we suddenly found ourselves on board a liner where people dress for dinner: ladies with bare arms, necks, legs; hair styles, and trousers. Men wore jackets; some in suits. One toff was in a three piece linen suit and old school tie. Fortunately we were self sufficient with our own company and unrestricted access to an endless supply of free booze. It was all very pleasant.

Of course we got wonderfully drunk though Eleanor overdid it somewhat. I was all for making her take public transport but Daniel treated us to micro bus home and she used the window most of the way. In retrospect it probably saved us all from getting arrested. Didn't sleep too much; not sure if anything to do with the alcohol? It's recently turned very humid; my fan seems useless. I would have been better off on the roof.
