Slim Chances Romance: Mango Juice Girl Tue 1 Mar 2005

I'm discussing "Romance" with the 4th years. There's a young lady in the front row - bright eyes, round smiling face - she's attentive and contributes well. The smiles continue. I vaguely remember her last semester but she didn't come to the classes then. She could be fun.

After the class we go to the cafeteria and sip mango juice. She tells me she has no classes on Sundays, it's a good day to do something different; to go out for a picnic perhaps?

I'm interested in finding out what happens next, what do couples do here? What do they talk about? How far does it go physically? Do they meet in secret? Do they hold hands in private moments? Miss Katy always says that these Sudanese girls can be very friendly - but "it's never going to happen". Well that's all right then? If it cannot go too far - there's no harm in playing along; right?

My Mango Juice Girl is 21 years old - less than half my age. I normally refuse to give a student my phone number - but this time I feebly give in.

Tue 1 Mar

Between classes I meet Mango Juice Girl again (for another mango juice) - certainly a tonic to my day.
