  Baggara Bowl Pancake Day

Back at the Shuhada flat "my" room appears to be occupied; a little annoying as I want to unpack. I assume it's our "new" house mate Cleo who has been here a month but I'm yet to meet. I am hoping we don't have a difficult first encounter but when she arrives she is painfully aware that she's supposed to be moving rooms. She has also, rather sportingly, agreed to make pancakes. It's Pancake Day and Katy's coming over. I go off to buy lemons.

The pancakes get cooked and then for some reason they're put to one side while we eat ful instead. When we do finally get to them they are cold; it is late and Katy stays over.

I had a good month away but I found it a bit quiet. I didn't speak to another khawaja - and I kind of missed people and conversations, impromptu parties and other comforts. El Obied was pleasant and quaint but it feels good to be back. I'll enjoy a few days "honeymoon" now before teaching continues in earnest next week.
