| Christmas cards in January |

I pop in to the SVP office to see if Angus has arrived. He is there, and so is the bag of goodies he has brought for me from London. There are 20 Christmas cards from dear friends who'd sent them to my London address, some clothes and a few mp3 CDs amounting to about 30 audio CDs. I am delighted. At the British Council, I buy a cold drink, find a shady seat in the garden and open the Christmas cards. It is very touching, if not very strange. I'm in another world here; a world away from winter, snow and robins.
