It is Friday already and today is our weekend. I make a point of having a lie in, although by 8:30am I am in serious danger of getting sunburnt. We have a party tonight on our roof; must shop and cook. I put on Astral Weeks, sunshine pouring in through the window. I make a watermelon smoothie for breakfast. After a while the others join me and we have a lazy, non urgent, planning meeting about the evening's party. We are so relaxed, even "maņana" would seem a bit hasty.

Friday night was our turn to invite people for "Ramadan fatoor" (breaking fast), so word went around, be here from 4pm to eat at 6:34pm prompt. It went well. I bought a large [prayer] mat which we sat on for our [picnic] supper (I had originally had in mind we would take it all on the roof). Many guests came and they seemed to enjoy themselves. The food was lovely and we have so much left over. Unfortunately we have invites elsewhere to "breakfast" for most of next week so I suspect we are not going to get through it.

The mat became a great source of entertainment later when it was used for playing a modified version of Twister; the main variation being it was men-only. Wanting a quiet life I abstained only to find myself getting the job of caller. It took all of 45 minutes before we had a winner. It was exhausting; I think the contorted guys on the mat did very well. It was getting a bit late for the girls to have a turn and to be fair I guess most of them were not dressed for it, so we let them off.

It is strange how much fun you can have and how "tired" one can feel the next morning; without alcohol.
